Kastawayz Art is created by husband and wife team, Kerry and Amanda Illerbrun, from Port Alberni on Vancouver Island.

We started our business in 1999 as a side venture to our regular jobs, Kerry is a boilermaker by trade and has spent over 20 years in shipbuilding.  There is absolutely no question Kerry has been blessed with the artists mind and skilled hands, my job is to fabricate/finish/sell our art, collaborate ideas, offer critique, and all the other things most artists hate to do (paperwork, emails, website, social media, lol).

We moved to Canada in 2008 with our three sons (Kerry and sons are dual citizens and myself a permanent resident). We are extremely happy to have picked Vancouver Island.  It is full of wonderful artists and people who have truly supported and embraced our artwork.

Our art is primarily focused on the utilization and upcycling of old and discarded metal materials such as cutlery, oil drums and rusty/coloured roofing or siding.  Occasionally we incorporate old lumber or driftwood to accent the metal. Each piece is individually hand cut and sculpted, mindfully allowing the rusty patina, pitted steel, faded worn paint, holes and scratches to give it its own unique story, character and personality.

With a predominant Westcoast feel, we are passionate about creating beautiful metal art work for your home and garden that in turn reflects and comments on the threat of our consumer culture and its effects on the environment.

Our art has been purchased across Canada and many countries around the world.
